THE LIGHTHOUSE
Dafoe and Pattinson Lose Their S**t!

Horror movie season is coming up, and if you like your spooks with a hefty dose of artiness, then The Lighthouse is the movie for you. The Lighthouse is a black-and-white (yup you read that right) horror film that follows two lighthouse keepers stationed together on a remote and eerie New England island in the 1890s as they lose their sanity, descend into madness, and have to face their worst fears. Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson star as the two lighthouse keepers.
Short of reading a review full of spoilers, no other information about this film has been released. Which is probably for the best, this seems like the kind of film to which you’d want to go in almost completely cold. Do yourself a favor though, and after you watch the insane trailer for The Lighthouse, look up the Spongebob/The Lighthouse mash-up trailer, you won’t regret it. I mean, you might be a little weirded out, but you won’t regret it.
The Lighthouse was directed by Robert Eggers, from a script he co-wrote with Max Eggers (his brother.) The only other credited cast in addition to Dafoe and Pattinson is an actor named Valeriia Karaman who is credited as playing a mermaid, so maybe that will give you an idea of what these two lighthouse keepers have to face while on this island. It had its world premiere on May 19, 2019 at the Cannes Film Festival to critical acclaim.
The Lighthouse is scheduled to be theatrically released on October 18, 2019 by A24.
