THE NEST: A THRILLER
Sundance Fave with Jude Law and Carrie Coon

In The Nest, Jude Law and Carrie Coon star as married couple Rory and Allison, whose lives take a dark turn after they relocate from America to an English country manor. The Nest was written and directed by Sean Durkin and had its world premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, where IFC Films quickly acquired it for distribution. In advance of its scheduled September 18, 2020 release, a new trailer just dropped.
The trailer opens with a conversation between Rory and Allison discussing their need to move. Rory says that “everything is dried up here,” to which Allison responds, “this would be our fourth move.” From the get-go, things do not seem all that bright for this family. The trailer continues to follow the dissolution of Rory and Allison’s marriage. The film promises to be a psychological thriller, following the emotional and literal breakdown of their relationship.
While their new home in the English countryside is certainly eerie, it’s not the ghosts of the house that destroy them, but the baggage this couple carries with them. A review in Variety indicates The Nest seems like a cross between The Shining and Marriage Story, which portray destructive powers of the male ego. Check out the new trailer right here before it comes out.
