THE NIGHT HOUSE
No Sleep For Rebecca Hall + Stacy Martin

Rebecca Hall stars in The Night House as Beth, a woman reeling from the shocking and sudden death of her husband. Alone in the lakeside home he built for them, she starts to be plagued by nightmares, and visions of a demonic presence in the house. Of course, once nighttime gives way to the harsh light of day, those ominous feelings are gone, replaced by a sense of calm. Beth determines to discover what is causing these otherworldly night terrors, and begins to dig into the things her husband left behind. Soon she realizes that the answers she seeks are not so easily found, and she finds herself drawn into a deadly mystery she must solve.
The film’s trailer introduces us to Hall’s Beth, as she recounts the day her husband took a boat out on the lake and shot himself with a handgun she did not know they owned. He did leave her a note, which only reads “you were right, there is nothing. Nothing is after you. You’re safe now.” Of course, that begs the question, what exactly is she safe from? And why does she find bloody footprints on her dock? Things only get stranger when Beth discovers a book entitled Caerdroia (which is a type of maze) that contains the floor plans for their lakehouse, as well as a set of reverse floor plans. Which leads Beth to discover a “backwards” version of their house. What does this all mean? And if there’s a second version of their house, is there a second Beth? Is there another version of her husband who is still alive?

David Bruckner directed The Night House from a script co-written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski. In addition to Hall, the film stars Stacy Martin, Sarah Goldberg, and Evan Jonigkeit. The Night House had its world premiere on January 24, 2020 at the Sundance Film Festival. It will be released on August 20, 2021.
