Blake Lively Stars as a Woman with Nothing to Lose
An action thriller directed by a woman and starring a woman? Heck yes. Liam Neeson move over, it’s Blake Lively’s turn avenging her family’s murder in The Rhythm Section. The Rhythm Section stars Lively as Stephanie Patrick, a woman on a path of vengeance. After her family dies in a plane crash, that she was supposed to be on, she learns that the crash was no accident but caused by a bomb planted on the plane. Vowing to take down her family’s killers, Stephanie Patrick takes on the guise of an international assassin to hunt down those responsible. Of course, as she continues down her path of revenge, her life continues to spiral out of control.
The Rhythm Section was directed by Reed Morano, who is known for her work on The Handmaid’s Tale, from a script written by Mark Burnell, based on his novel of the same name. In addition to Blake Lively, the film stars Jude Law as the man whom Stephanie Patrick enlists to help her find the people behind her family’s deaths, and Sterling K. Brown. In good news for action/spy-film fans everywhere, The Rhythm Section was produced by EON Productions, the company responsible for producing the James Bond films, so they know what they’re doing.
The Rhythm Section is scheduled to be released in the US on January 31, 2020 and in the UK on February 21, 2020. It is being distributed by Paramount Pictures.
