VANESSA KIRBY RULES
Mission: Impossible, The Son, Italian Studies+

Although Vanessa Kirby made her screen debut in 2011 in the BBC series The Hour opposite Ben Whishaw and Romola Garai, it wasn’t until she was cast as Princess Margaret, in the first two seasons of The Crown on Netflix, that she gained recognition. Since then, Kirby has proven that she is a multi-talented actor capable of dramatic performances and action franchises. This past year, Kirby delivered nuanced and heartbreaking performances in films like Pieces of a Woman (which garnered her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress) and The World to Come.
Let’s see what she’s got going on now!
Italian Studies
Kirby stars as Alina in this drama that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival this past June. After losing her memory, writer Alina finds herself lost in NYC. With no knowledge of where she lives, she connects with a group of young strangers who help her find her way back. But, unfortunately, Italian Studies does not yet have distribution.

Mission: Impossible 7
Kirby returns as White Widow in the seventh installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise. No plot details yet, but the film is expected to be released in May 2022.
Mission: Impossible 8
Like the upcoming 7th film in the Mission: Impossible series, there are no details available for this franchise’s continuation. All we know is that it may be released sometime in 2023.

The Son
Kirby will star in Florian Zeller’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning drama The Father, with The Son. Based on Zeller’s play of the same name, it follows Peter (Hugh Jackman) and his much younger partner, Beth (Kirby), whose lives are thrown into turmoil when Peter’s ex-wife, Kate (Laura Dern), shows up with their teenage son.
The Brutalist
Kirby joins Sebastian Stan, Marion Cotillard, Joel Edgerton, Mark Rylance, and Alessandro Nivola in this 1940s-set period film about an architect who moves to the United States. If the title is a clue, this architect specializes in the Brutalist architecture style popular in the 1950s.
Suddenly
Kirby and Jake Gyllenhaal are signed on to star in this thriller based on the French novel Soudain Seuls. They will play a couple who must fight for their lives when they’re stranded on a desert island that was supposed to be a dream vacation.
