Although he was born Mark Sinclair on July 18, 1967, you likely know him by his professional name: Vin Diesel. While he started acting in 1990, it took a little while for his career to pick up steam. It wasn’t until he wrote, directed, produced, scored and starred in the 1995 film Multi-Facial. The short film focuses on a multi-racial actor (Diesel) and his hardships trying to find success. This short got the attention of Steven Spielberg, who cast Diesel in Saving Private Ryan. And finally, Diesel was on the path to stardom.
Diesel has made a name for himself as an action star, he has even become one of Hollywood’s highest-grossing stars. Diesel is probably best known for his role as Dominic “Dom” Toretto in The Fast and the Furious series. He played Dom for the 9th time in the latest installment, F9. F9 was supposed to be released earlier this year, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, its release was pushed back to April 2, 2021. F9 picks up after the events of the 8th film in the franchise, The Fate of the Furious. Dom and his family now face a threat from Dom’s younger brother Jakob (John Cena). Jakob, a deadly assassin, has teamed up with Dom’s old enemy Cipher (Charlize Theron), who has a personal grudge against Dom.
Other than F9, Diesel has some other exciting projects ahead. He will reprise his role as the voice of Tree-creature Groot in the upcoming Thor film, Thor: Love and Thunder. He has signed on for a tenth The Fast and the Furious movie. And finally, he is attached to both the second and third installments in James Cameron’s Avatar series. It may be some time until we get to see any of these new projects, but Diesel remains busy.
