Jennifer Lopez’s HUSTLERS Are Gonna Get You
This past week a wild new trailer dropped, and has since been getting a lot of buzz. That trailer is for the new Jennifer Lopez movie, Hustlers. Hustlers, written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, follows a group of former strippers who decide to flip the script on their Wall Street clients. Sounds insane right? What makes this premise even more insane, it’s based on the New York Magazine article, “The Hustlers At Scores,” by Jessica Pressler. The article, which came out in 2015, details the story of a group of strippers who stole from their wealthy clients. While the movie will not be following the true story, knowing that it’s based on something that happened only makes it more interesting.
Jennifer Lopez stars as Ramona, a savvy-stripper who takes Constance Wu’s Dorothy under her wings. Together, they set up a plan to scam their wealthy Wall Street clients out of money. Joining Lopez and Wu in the scheme are Lili Reinhart, Keke Palmer, Cardi B, Madeline Brewer, and Lizzo. Additionally, Julia Stiles stars as the journalist who stumbles onto the story. Yeah, you read that right, this cast is insane. It will be interesting to see Cardi B and Lizzo exercise their acting chops, especially around some of the more veteran actors in the film.
Now, if all of that is not enough to pique your interest. One of the real strippers who inspired this story, Samantha Barbash, threatened to take legal action against the producers of the film (including Lopez) for using her life story without her permission. Who doesn’t love a film with its own side of scandal?
