Whose Streets? new doc

The filmmakers examine the Ferguson unrest

Given all that has followed the shooting of Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson, it’s stunning to realize that the events in Ferguson, Missouri began three years ago this month. In their debut documentary, Whose Streets? co-directors Sabaah Folayan and Damon Davis, together with cinematographer Lucas Alvarado Farrer, take the audience back to the heart of the protests. Folayan examines the grief and loss that was being felt by the community but which she thought was not front and center in the story as it was being told in major media outlets.

Folayan’s original intent was to cover the Ferguson unrest via print but she quickly decided that real life dialogue and visuals made for a better and truer story. Set for an August 11 release, this already critically acclaimed documentary will commemorate the 3rd anniversary of Brown’s death. These first-time filmmakers hit festival gold earlier this year when Whose Streets? was shown in competition at Sundance.
