WONDER WOMAN: GAL GADOT
From Superheroes to Whodunnits

Even though Wonder Woman couldn’t save us from a pandemic, she would help those in need. While the character of the lasso-wielding Amazon-woman is not real, we can take a look at Gal Gadot, the kickass actress who plays her and check out some of her upcoming projects.
Born and raised in Israel, Gadot started modeling at the age of 18, when she won the Miss Israel beauty pageant. She continued modeling for the next few years, while also studying law and international relations at IDC Herzliya College. Her big acting break came in 2009 playing Gisele Yashar in Fast & Furious (the fourth film in the Fast & Furious franchise). From there, she continued to get small supporting roles in films like Date Night and Knight and Day. Of course, what put her on the path to superstardom was when she became Wonder Woman in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. After she made her first appearance as the superhero in that film, she got her own movie the next year. Wonder Woman, directed by Patty Jenkins, was a fantastic superhero movie and broke records at the box office, proving once and for all female-led superhero movies can make money.
After the success of Wonder Woman, WB greenlit a sequel. And we couldn’t be more excited for Wonder Woman 1984, which will again be directed by Jenkins. While the first film was set during World War I, the sequel will take place in, you guessed it, 1984. Not only will Gadot be returning as the titular hero, but we’re excited for, and confounded by, Chris Pine’s return as Steve Trevor. Did Steve Trevor somehow become immortal? Was he cloned? How has he returned? Wonder Woman 1984 may be in theaters on August 14, 2020, but that could change.
Wonder Woman 1984 isn’t Gadot’s only new project we’re looking forward to seeing. She will also be in Death on the Nile. This adaptation of the Agatha Christie mystery, directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh, will see Gadot play the ill-fated Linnet Ridgeway Doyle. Doyle may be the murder victim at the center of this Hercule Poirot mystery, but don’t worry, Gadot will still get to flex her acting chops in the role and be more than a corpse. Death on the Nile is currently scheduled for theatrical release October 9, 2020.
With such great projects and more on the horizon, we can’t wait to see what she does next.
