6 FANTASY COLLABORATIONS

Dreaming of Drake, Rihanna, Kanye, Shakira +

There are some artists that seem destined to work together. Whether they’re co-stars in their respective genres or their paths have crossed in other ways, the universe wants them to work together. And so do we.

Here are six pairs we’d love to see create collaborative tracks:

Rihanna and the Weeknd

They’ve been the leaders of their genre for years and they certainly run in similar circles. The Weeknd was to be the opening act on several Anti World Tour Dates before he unexpectedly canceled. They’ve collaborated with other hip-hop and R&B icons, but they haven’t crossed paths in the studio. We’ve been waiting on new music from Rihanna since 2016. We’re hoping for a feature by the Weeknd when her ninth album finally drops.

Drake and J Balvin

In a recent interview for Apple Music, the Grammy-winning Latin rapper J Balvin said he aspired to be a “living legend” like Drake. With both artists consistently ranking near the top of numerous charts, including the list of the most streamed artists in the world, we think the two would make a tremendous collaborative track.

Harry Styles and Stevie Nicks

Harry Styles and Stevie Nicks are the unexpected cross-generational duo we love the most. Styles presented Nicks for her inauguration into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. In his Rolling Stone cover story, last year, he included a detailed description of a tender moment the two shared during a Fleetwood Mac concert. They’ve shared the stage for live performances and we’re still hoping for collaboration in the studio.

Shakira and Karol G

Since Shakira exploded back into the spotlight during her 2020 Superbowl performance and Karol G began taking over the Latin and U.S. charts, we’ve been dying for the two to collaborate. These Columbian queens represent feminine innovation and talent in their fields and we think they’d make a killer duo in the studio, too.

Post Malone and Bob Dylan

In interviews, Post Malone has raved about his longtime admiration for his hero Bob Dylan. He even has a tattoo of the legendary rocker. Although it would be a stretch to call Post Malone’s music rock, his talent is undeniable and he’s proved how versatile he is as a vocalist and guitarist. We’re confident that if he had the chance to work with Dylan, he’d rise to the occasion.

Kanye West and Grimes

No, we aren’t kidding. Despite their quirks and flaws, Kanye West and Grimes are both visionary artists and producers and we think they’d create something great together. They’ve already had the pleasure of meeting (see: Kanye’s post of himself and Elon Musk together, in which Grimes is seen taking the photo), so it’s certainly not impossible. We may have to wait a bit, as Grimes is busy as a new mother.
