In the coronavirus age, acts from all over the world have discovered ways to entertain fans. Most often, that means live streaming performances that music lovers can enjoy from the safety of home.
If you’re looking to jumpstart your year and satisfy your need for live music, we have you covered. Here are five upcoming virtual concerts you won’t want to miss.
Cage the Elephant (January 30)
Grammy-winning rockers Cage the Elephant are starting the year by giving back. The band will live stream a concert in January to benefit the nonprofit organization Bread and Roses. The charity provides free live entertainment for families in the Bay Area who can’t readily access the arts.
It will take place on January 30 at 8 p.m. EST. Fans can purchase access to the livestream show for $19.99 here.
BLACKPINK (January 31)
After one delay, k-pop’s biggest girl group is playing its first virtual concert at the end of January. BLACKPINK’s global live stream event will be called The Show and will stream on YouTube. The group will be performing songs from its debut full-length record, The Album, for the first time.
The Show takes place on January 31 at midnight EST. Fans can purchase a channel membership to see the concert. A standard membership costs $30 on BLACKPINK’s official YouTube page.
Daniel Caesar (February 20)
R&B rising star Daniel Caesar has a Grammy Award and two more nominations. His sophomore album, released in 2019, solidified him as a new leader in his genre. Whether you’re a new fan or a longtime follower, his soft and soothing music is the perfect calming soundtrack for an evening at home.
Caesar will live stream his performance via SessionsLive on February 20 at 8 p.m. EST. You can purchase tickets for $15 here.
Jimmy Eat World (January and February)
Jimmy Eat World has scheduled three shows, titled the Phoenix Sessions, for January and February. During each, the band will play one full album “on a whole new level.” Fans can select which show to see based on their favorite album (or enjoy all three).
Individual shows are $15.00, or access to all three performances for $39.99. Early-bird pricing ends January 11. Information is on Jimmy Eat World’s website.
Lord Huron
Maybe you know Lord Huron from his famous track “The Night We Met.” It was featured in the Netflix series Thirteen Reasons Why. If you’ve always loved the indie rocker, his music is sure to delight you from the comfort of your couch.
Lord Huron will be giving performances once a month from January through April. The series is called Alive from the Whispering Pines and features “intimate performances of old favorites, deep cuts and new twists on long lost classics.” Lord Huron also promises plenty of laughs. Interested viewers can see the full list of dates and purchase tickets for $18.00 on Lord Huron’s official website.

Rufus Wainwright
Singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright will be performing all nine of his albums in order during a virtual “tour” that kicks off in January. He’s calling it a Rufus-Retro-Wainwright-Spective –– a name that seems fitting for the new Grammy nominee.
The first show in the series will take place January 8. Wainwright plans to perform his celebrated debut Release the Stars beginning at 5 p.m. EST. Fans can purchase tickets for $20.00 now or for $25.00 on the day of the show. Tickets can be bought here.
