ANNA OF THE NORTH
Dreaming of Her Second Album

Anna Lotterud, or Anna of the North on stage, has given electro-pop a new softness since her debut single in 2014. With her sophomore album Dream Girl’s release date only days away, we’re falling in love with her sound all over again.
The Norweigan vocalist met a producer in Melbourne while she was studying graphic design down under, launching her career in music. She released her first track “Sway,” not long after, and it was an immediate hit among electronic music fans. The artfully distorted sounds and Anna’s echoing vocals even inspired The Chainsmokers to remix the track, further elevating her notoriety in the American music scene. She also supported EDM artist Kygo on his European tour.
After a few more years of dropping one single after another, Anna of the North’s debut album Lovers was released in 2017. It’s a sweet emotional trip taken down a road of digitally produced sounds and groovy guitar licks that, in some ways, remind us of The 1975’s affinity for instrumental bending and blending. The album’s title track, a sexy but melancholy ballad, was featured in the 2018 Netflix rom-com To All the Boys I Loved Before.
Anna’s also earned the affection of Tyler, the Creator and was featured in two songs on his Flower Boy album. In “Boredom,” she croons softly alongside quintessential indie boy Rex Orange County and joins in on backup vocals for “911 / Mr. Lonely,” which also features the elusive Frank Ocean.
Anna of the North’s sophomore record is bound to fascinate us and the rest of the globe as much as her sweet vocals did during the past five years. We, at PROVOKR , can’t wait to give Dream Girl a listen when it’s released, October 25.
