Bad Bunny’s New MIA

Drake Sings Along to the Sexy New Track

Latin music brings a sense of livelihood, sexiness, and unity to the music industry. This type of music had been absent from the mainstream media until last year’s mega crossover hit, “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. Along with Bad Bunny, Cardi B, and Camila Cabello, these Latin musicians have brought fiesta pop back to life.

Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber was at the top of the Billboard charts for a record-breaking 16 weeks. And now the ultimate duo, Bad Bunny and Drake, are making big moves in the same direction. The Puerto Rican rising star and the Canadian heartthrob just dropped the catchy new single “MIA,” which has quickly become the first full Spanish-language song to hit #1 on Apple Music’s Top Songs Chart in the United States. The hip-swaying tune has made similar waves in Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Guatemala, El Salvador, and many other Spanish-speaking countries.

“Obviously this song is an achievement for me in my career, but what makes me really feel good is to make Latinos feel proud,” Bad Bunny told Apple Music. “That a pop figure like Drake would sing with me completely in Spanish and create this hit, that’s the best part of it.”

The Fernando Lugo-directed music video has both Drake and Bad Bunny having a blast at an outdoor house party. The clip features several young party goers—also known as “Latin babies”— dressed in sexy summertime fashion, sharing a drink, smoking hookah, and enjoying a nice game of dominoes.

While this may seem like a music video that should’ve been released during the warmer months, the two musicians wanted to deliver the message that summer is always happening somewhere. Although Drake had to have a short Spanish lesson for this collaboration, the two artists created an infectious beat that can and will be played all year-round.

If you don’t know Spanish and you would like to learn the lyrics, let us help you out! Drake opens the song singing the phrase “Tell him you’re mine/You know you’re mine/You said it yourself.” This infectious line is played throughout the track, and eventually Bad Bunny joins in.
