This year has been the year of collaborations in music. Pairings we’d expect, and a ton we haven’t have climbed the charts and been some of the most loved tracks of the year.

Here are the seven hottest collaborations released so far this year:

Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road”

Everyone knows it, and love it or hate it, it’s groundbreaking in more ways than one. An innovative fusion of hip-hop and country, the track shattered the record for most consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Remixes of “Old Town Road” have brought additional artists on board, but we’ll always come back to this one as our favorite.

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes’ “Senorita”

By far the sexiest collab of the year comes from Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. The two young pop stars teamed up for a steamy Latin-inspired duet that chronicles a summer fling gone bad in the hottest way.

Billie Eilish and Justin Bieber’s “bad guy”

Billie Eilish’s haunting soprano has rocketed the teen to fame in the past year. She’s gotten so phenomenally popular, she got one of her personal heroes and A-list star Justin Bieber to add a verse to her charting hit “bad guy.” Bieber’s smooth, masculine tone adds an interesting element to the edgy hit, giving listeners a taste of his dark side, too.

Ed Sheeran and Travis Scott’s “Antisocial”

Ed Sheeran’s latest album is a fascinating collection of collaborations with artists from any and all genres. But his best works bring him back to his affinity for hip-hop. His collaboration with Travis Scott, the current hottest name in rap, is a short but addictive listen with a ridiculously good beat and delightful add-libs.

Megan Thee Stallion, Ty Dolla $ign and Nicki Minaj’s “Hot Girl Summer”

A recently but worthy addition to the list of best collabs of the year is this track from three prominent names in hip-hop. Megan Thee Stallion hit the mainstream when a lyric from her single “Cash Shit” sparked the hot girl summer movement. Her collab with Nicki Minaj and R&B artist Ty Dolla $ign gives us the perfect soundtrack to end-of-summer troublemaking.

Ellie Goulding and Juice WRLD’s “Hate Me”

Ellie Goulding shows an edge we haven’t seen before with her latest collab with R&B artist Juice WRLD. It’s an in-your-face breakup anthem that’s self-deprecating and full of self-love all at the same time. The two vocalists compliment each other well over the rhythmic melody.

Simple Creatures’ “Adrenaline”

Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth teamed up this year to release an EP as a punk-rock powerhouse duo called Simple Creatures. A sure highlight on the EP is “Adrenaline,” a very ATL-informed hit that’s reminiscent of the most danceable punk pop of the 2000s.
