BIG SEAN
The return of the G.O.O.D Music Prodigy

On September 4, Big Sean will drop his first studio album in three years. Titled Detroit 2, the Michigan native will release it through G.O.O.D Music.
The album comes after years of mental struggles the artist endured, which he spoke about last year. Sean released multiple singles throughout the last year, with Overtime, Single Again and Berserk dropping in 2019.
The album lineup is one for the ages, as Sean has these artists on deck: 21 Savage, Young Thug, ASAP Ferg, Hit-Boy, Post Malone, Meek Mill, Nas, Lil Wayne, G.O.O.D Music Founder Kanye West, as well as the late Nipsey Hussle. A who’s who of hip-hop stars have joined the project and could leapfrog him back into prominence within the rap community.
Sean was the breakout star in G.O.O.D Music with his first studio album. Finally Famous put him at the forefront of rap in the early 2010s. He, along with J Cole, Kendrick Lamar and Drake, became the leaders of the genre. As the decade went on, Sean’s prominence has been overshadowed by the other three artists. Before long, his life outside the booth was more prominent than his life within it and for a good reason. After all, dating Ariana Grande and Jhené Aiko would put anybody’s love life at the forefront, right?
Now 32, the rapper has a chance to jump back into the fold with this album, joining the limelight that still revolves around Lamar, Cole and Drake. He would also enter a world with a new crop of talent; stars such as Joyner Lucas, Lil Wayne (who is still dropping tapes!) and perhaps a returning Logic? (Is it overzealous to call him out of retirement after No Pressure? Perhaps.)
Nevertheless, the hip-hop world is expanding again.
