Billie Eilish is back again with another groovy single, “Therefore I am.”

The 18-year-old icon’s latest track dropped on Thursday afternoon, and we’re already in love. It has all the essential elements of what’s become a classic Eilish track: a heavy bassline, a funky electronic melody, and moody, unapologetic lyrics. In our humble opinion, it’s got the potential to be a hit as big as “bad guy.”

The lyrics of “Therefore I am” make it clear that Eilish is unbothered by haters and fake friends. She’s no longer concerned with others’ opinions, and doesn’t have time for gossip and clickbait headlines. Her musical and stylistic individuality has always been why she stands out, and she’s owning that to the fullest here.

The “Therefore I am” music video, directed by Eilish, shows Eilish living out every kid’s dream. She runs through an empty mall, racing through empty halls and grabbing all the snacks she can carry. She laughs at the camera while she snacks on a soft pretzel and french fries, clearly having a blast.

Eilish and her brother/longtime collaborator Finneas are the only people credited as songwriters and producers of “Therefore I am.” That’s not a surprise, considering Finneas contributed to every track of Eilish’s wildly successful debut album. He has become an integral part of Eilish’s career and has earned a few awards of his own, along the way.

Since she swept all of the major categories at the 2020 Grammy Awards, Eilish has released three singles, including “Therefore I am.” First came “No Time To Die,” the theme for the upcoming James Bond film of the same title. Then came “my future,” a somber and introspective track.

In January, Eilish revealed she was recording a new album to be released soon. Though we’re assuming the coronavirus pandemic delayed her plans as it did for many other artists, we’ve got high hopes that a new album is still on the way. We’re assuming both “my future” and “Therefore I am” will be included in the tracklist, and we can’t wait to see what else the album includes.

Eilish’s other future plans also include releasing a documentary film. Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry will be released by Apple TV+ in February 2021. The movie will reportedly give an inside look at her life before fame, her relationship with Finneas, and her journey to becoming a star.
