The four hour-long Grammy Awards gave us plenty of memorable moments. Billie Eilish became the youngest artist and first woman ever to sweep the four major award categories. Camila Cabello moved us to tears when she sweetly serenaded her dad. Aerosmith proved they can still rock the biggest night in music’s stage.

Many artists gave moving and memorable performances of some of the year’s most notable songs. Here are our five favorite performances from the 62nd Grammys:

Lizzo

The most nominated artist of the night kicked off the ceremony with a high energy mashup of “Cuz I Love You” and “Truth Hurts.” Lizzo’s excitement about her first Grammy nominations set the tone for the rest of the evening, permeating the heaviness of the news of basketball star Kobe Bryant’s untimely death, which broke just hours before. She went home with three awards, including Best Pop Solo Performance for “Truth Hurts.”

Tyler, The Creator

“EARFQUAKE” was one of the great visionary works of music released in 2019, and its fitting performance rocked the Grammys. Tyler, The Creator performed a medley of “EARFQUAKE” and “NEW MAGIC WAND” from his album Igor, which earned him his first Grammy for Best Rap Album. Throughout the electric performance, he danced through the fire and flames of a burning village with an army of lookalikes, falling dramatically into the flames at the end of his song.

Billie Eilish

The biggest winner of the night kept her performance surprisingly low-key. Billie Eilish’s brother and frequent collaborator Finneas joined her on-stage to perform a simple piano rendition of “when the party’s over.” She returned to the stage four more times throughout the night, to accept her awards for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best New Artist. She also earned Best Pop Vocal Album, and Finneas was named Non-traditional Producer of the Year.

Lil Nas X

For his first Grammy performance, Lil Nas X took us on a literal walk through all of the “Old Town Road” remixes, which included live appearances by Billy Ray Cyrus, Mason Ramsey, Diplo and BTS. Lil Nas X also performed his single “Rodeo,” with a surprise verse from Nas. The Best New Artist nominee took home two awards for “Old Town Road”: Best Music Video and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Ariana Grande

Though she didn’t earn any Grammys for her phenomenal year, Ariana Grande remained one of the most celebrated artists of the night. (See Billie Eilish’s acceptance speech for Album of the Year.) For her performance, Grande sang a medley of some of her biggest songs of the year: “Imagine,” “7 Rings” and “thank u, next.” She also rattled off a quick verse of The Sound of Music’s “My Favorite Things,” the melody sampled for “7 Rings.”

Usher

The Grammy Salute to Prince is coming later this week, but Usher gave us a taste of it during the ceremony with his medley of some of the Purple One’s greatest hits. His vocals shone during “Kiss,” and FKA Twigs made an appearance as a dancer, showing off her sexy moves on a pole and alongside Usher throughout his performance.

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato gave us one of the most powerful moments of the night in her first live performance in two years. She debuted her son “Anyone,” a stripped-down ballad that put her recent personal struggles on full display. Lovato’s vocals were stunning, and her brave vulnerability stood out as she artistically acknowledged her challenges and the long road to overcoming them.
