The queens of Kpop joined forces with one of America’s hottest pop stars for a stellar collab this week.
The hot release of the week was BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez’s collaborative track “Ice Cream.” The single was announced weeks ago with high hopes as anticipation grew and the ladies delivered!
The lyrics to “Ice Cream” are intensely flirty, with lots of sexy suggestiveness. The melody is a typical high-energy Kpop tune. And Gomez’s voice fits perfectly with the BLACKPINK members. Every element of this new song seems made for the charts.
“Ice Cream” was also co-written by Ariana Grande, a connoisseur of sexy pop tracks. Adding her talents to this mix of female pop powerhouses took this sweet end-of-summer song to the next level.
The music video for “Ice Cream” is a pastel-tinted dream. There is, of course, a lot of shots featuring everyone’s favorite summertime treat. But everything from the set to wardrobe is also flawless, with lots of candy-striped goodness, vintage cars and adorable mini-skirts. It feels like an updated, recast version of Katy Perry’s phenomenal “California Girls” video in all the best ways.
At the time of publication, the “Ice Cream” video was already nearing 50 million views on YouTube, which signified that this song would continue to rocket up the charts.
