Blondie
The platinum perfection of Debbie Harry

Blondie is among the most successful musical acts to emerge from New York’s ’70s punk scene. The band formed in 1974, when Debbie Harry met guitarist, Chris Stein. Blondie’s pop-punk sound with edgy overtones of disco, rap and reggae went on to generate four number-one hit singles in the late ’70s and early ’80s. And their 1981 song, “Rapture,”was actually the first rap song to make it to number one on the U.S. music charts. To date, Blondie have sold more than 40 million records. “We really knew who we were and what we were doing,” said Harry. “You know, it wasn’t sort of some kind of applied veneer.”
