CAMILA CABELLO’S BIG DREAMS
Cinderella Gets Down + A Fab Fairy Godmother

A dream is a wish your heart makes — and if your wish was for Camila Cabello to play Cinderella, then it is about to come true. The 24-year-old pop star will make her feature-film debut as the iconic Disney princess. The catch, though? Disney is not releasing it.
Amazon Studios picked up the rights to this feminist take on the classic tale. As the lead, Cabello plays a woman under the thumb of her evil stepmother (Idina Menzel). All Cinderella wants to do is start her business, “Dresses By Ella.” To get there, she hatches a plan to wear her creation to the royal ball. When her plan is thwarted, Fab G (Billy Porter) comes to the rescue (and turns the mice into people, one played by James Corden because, of course!)

Cinderella catches the eye of Prince Robert (portrayed by newcomer Nicholas Galitzine). His parents (Minnie Driver and Pierce Brosnan) want him to marry, but Cinderella denies his advances because she wants to start her own company. I told you it was the feminist take.
Based on the trailer alone, Cabello truly shines. Her raspy vocals bring a more authentic, down-to-earth representation of the princess. Not to mention her delivery on some insanely sassy lines. (Like when she asks for more comfortable shoes instead of glass ones. She is reading our minds.)

Cabello is coming out of the gate strong with her first film role — and we have a hunch we will see more of her.
“I don’t want it to be just me alone on stage or in a video,” when she can avoid it, she told Bustle. “I read this article in The New York Times about collective joy. I just want it to be like that collective joy where I’m not alone.”
At the helm of this experience is Kay Cannon, who wrote and directed this adaptation. She is known for producing the Pitch Perfect movie franchise, and she directed the sleeper-hit comedy Blockers starring John Cena.
With a cast unlike any other, you don’t want to miss Cinderella when it hits Amazon Prime on September 3.
