The Bronx-Based Rapper Is Down For Miami Heat

Cardi B (whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar) is having a very good 2018. The 25-year-old’s debut album Invasion of Privacy went certified gold after an April release with a number of singles going platinum, she was a musical guest on Saturday Night Live, and she’s expecting her first child later this year. Cardi B also just released a new single called “I Like It” featuring Bad Bunny & J Balvin that’s on the verge of going platinum as well.

Directed by Eif Rivera, the music video for “I Like It” was filmed in Little Havana, Miami at various nightclubs and neighborhoods throughout the Cuban-American district. It features Cardi B’s trademark Latin flare and unique flow throughout that will make you dance in your place or throughout a dancefloor. Of course, the track also features samples from the 1967 Latin charmer, “I Like It Like That,” by Pete Rodriguez and composed by Tony Pabon and Manny Rodriguez.

Cardi B is super sexy in a flouncy salsa skirt and head wrap, despite her baby bump. And the music video is hot, as in you can practically feel the summer heat even though you’re watching it on YouTube. It just shows how good cinematography and direction can go a long way to create a feeling and mood that reflects Cardi B’s lyrics and flow, which is on fire:

“They call me Cardi Bardi, banging body
Spicy mami, hot tamale
Hotter than a Somali, fur coat, Ferrari
Hop out the stu’, jump in the coupe (coupe)
Big Dipper on top of the roof
Flexing on bitches as hard as I can
Eating halal, driving the Lam’”

While Cardi B lays down most of the rhymes, Bad Bunny lends a chorus in Spanish and parts in English, as J Balvin drops one in Spanish as well. “I Like It” is almost the perfect song for a crossover hit because it’s very popular with English and Spanish speakers, alike. It’s also the perfect song for a fun summer!
