They’re Beyonce’s favorite duo and one of ours, too. Chloe x Halle first took the world by storm alongside the superstar. The pair are gearing up for the release of their second studio album, Ungodly Hour, and further proves why they’re the next big thing in R&B.

Chloe and Halle Bailey got their start on YouTube. They started their channel when they were just 11 and 13 years old, posting covers of pop songs, including a few Beyonce tracks. The Bailey sisters’ cover of “Pretty Hurts” went viral in 2015, and soon after, Queen B herself signed Chloe x Halle to her own management company, Parkwood Entertainment.

Their debut EP, Sugar Symphony, was released in 2016. That year, the duo also appeared on Beyonce’s visual album Lemonade and were her opening act on the European leg of the Formation World Tour.

The following years have been successful too. Chloe x Halle released their mixtape The Two of Us, which was mostly written and produced by the sisters themselves. It was praised as one of the best R&B works of the year. Then in 2018, they released their debut studio album, The Kids Are Alright, which earned them two Grammy nominations. Later that year, they again traveled the globe alongside Beyonce and Jay-Z as a supporting act on the Carters’ On The Run II Tour.

So far in 2020, Chloe x Halle have released two singles to promote their sophomore album. Both show off their unique genre-bending sound, which the two have described as a blend of their individual music preferences: alternative, R&B and the classic jazz of decades past.

“Catch Up,” which dropped in April, is a collaborative track featuring Chloe x Halle, rapper Swae Lee and producer Mike WiLL Made-It. The sisters’ sweet and soulful voices are a delightful, dazzling fit for the danceable track that sounds perfect for club speakers.

Next came “Do It,” an independent girl squad anthem about a night out, free from man-related stresses. The accompanying music video is a stunner, with flawless choreography, editing and wardrobe. It reached the top ten on the Billboard R&B chart, Chloe x Halle’s first single to do so.

Chloe x Halle’s album Ungodly Hour is due out on June 12.
