Country Cool
Lillie Mae breaks the rules

Country charm Lillie Mae Rische is on the road to discovery: “Are we there yet?” is her response when asked what she would call her life movie. Although she first picked up the violin when she was seven, and has been performing since she was 16, the now 26-year-old fiddling phenom is really just starting her exciting journey. Thankfully, we’re along for her ride. A founding member of her family’s music group, Jypsi, she was discovered by indie record producer extraordinaire, Jack White, who had her join his band and then produced her debut solo album, Forever and Then Some, which was released in April on his Third Man Records label.
Lillie Mae is establishing herself as a talented and unusual singer/songwriter through songs of self-identity and acceptance of life, as heard in the singles “Nobody’s” and the gospel-twinged “Wash Me Clean.” Her heartfelt resonance flows through these tunes that are filled with her fancy fiddle playing and Dolly Parton-like twangy, serene voice. Give her a close listen, y’all.
