The Wild New Single From Tove Lo
Sometimes, a music video is really strange, but also really hot, and that’s our favorite combination! “Disco Tits” is the first single from Blue Lips, the latest album from Swedish singer/songwriter Tove Lo. The intriguing video, directed by Tim Erem, can best be described as “almost safe for work – but not quite.” It features a cheesy talk show where Tove Lo immediately hits it off with a fuzzy yellow Muppet. The pair embark on a drug-fueled, sexually-charged road trip through the American Southwest, leaving behind the boundaries of the Muppet’s “vanilla” lifestyle.
The single itself is super catchy with a thumping backbeat and edgy lyrics that can turn anyone on:“I’m sweatin’ from head to toe; I’m wet through all my clothes; I’m fully charged, nipples are hard; Ready to go.” Tove Lo skillfully takes her disco soul and mixes it with electroclash and pop with a fun and provocative sound. The single is produced by Ali Payami, who also worked with the likes of The Weeknd, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift, and Swedish production duo The Struts (not to be confused with the British glam band of the same name), who also worked on Lo’s last two albums, Lady Wood and Queen of the Clouds.
Tove Lo says the song is “about losing yourself with your newfound love. Naïve, excited, no consequences. The happiness in the haze I’m feeling right now.” The passion of each individual moment is something to be seized, cherished, and adored for as long as possible. After all, who knows when such a feeling will emerge again? Sure, the video seems silly, but Tove Lo was able to get that fuzzy Muppet to break free from his emotional cage and live life to its fullest; love stories don’t get any more romantic than that.
