Ellie Goulding has been a stunning and sparkling figure in pop music since her debut album dropped in 2010. The British-born artist’s soprano voice is the stuff of dreams, as we in the United States found out when “Lights” hit the charts that same year. We’ve been captivated by her ever since, and now, we’re gearing up for Goulding’s fourth album Brightest Blue.

Goulding got her start with a British subsidiary label of Universal Music Group. Following the release of her phenomenal studio debut Lights, she spent summers touring alongside artists like Passion Pit, John Mayer and Katy Perry. She also graced the stage of several music festivals and performed at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011.

The following years brought two more albums and international success. Goulding frequently collaborated with prominent EDM artists, showing off her affinity for electronic pop. In her work, too, she continues to blend personal lyrics with energetic synth melodies.

So far this year, Goulding has released three singles from Brightest Blue. “Worry About Me,” a collaboration with Blackbear, gave us our first look at Brightest Blue in March. It was followed by “Power,” a steamy synth-rock track. Finally, in late June, “Slow Grenade” dropped.

It’s also worth noting that in February 2020, Goulding did a re-release of Lights in honor of the 10th anniversary of her superstar debut release. The re-issue includes seven bonus tracks and six remixes.

In the press release, Goulding wrote that Brightest Blue is a two-part experience. One side shows a vulnerable persona, while the other depicts confidence and bravery. She also wrote that the tracks chronicle a journey of growth into womanhood. Goulding is a co-writer on each track featured on the album. Featured artists include JuiceWRLD, Lauv and Diplo.

Brightest Blue is scheduled to be released on July 17.
