“She’s the future,” producer Pharrell said in a recent interview for a Vogue cover story. And the future is now. Rosalía is the world’s hottest Latin pop star of the moment and will be one of the most significant sensations of 2021.

Rosalía Vila Tobella is a native of Barcelona, Spain. Her professional music career began at just 16 years old. She caught the attention of industry execs with her undeniable talent and unique adaptations of flamenco music.

Rosalía’s international breakthrough came in 2018 after the release of her second studio album. Her innovative blend of flamenco and pop helped her singles “Malamente,” “Pienso en tu Mirá,” and “Di Mi Nombre” shoot up Latin charts worldwide.

Following her breakthrough, Rosalía began collaborating with several superstars. So far, she’s worked with  J Balvin, Daddy Yankee, and Bad Bunny to create a few Spanish bangers. But her influence transcends boundaries. In recent years, she’s also worked with U.S. icons like The Weeknd, Lil Baby, and James Blake.

Most recently and perhaps most notably, Rosalía worked with rap phenom

Travis Scott to release “TKN.” It dropped in May 2020 and debuted at number 66 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it her biggest hit in the U.S. to date. The song also became a global hit on TikTok.

But that’s far from all that Rosalía accomplished in 2020. She won her first Grammy Award and three Latin Grammys this year. She released another exciting collaborative track with Venezuelan producer Arca in June. She also contributed a verse to a remix of Sech’s Relación,” which helped earn Rosalía her second entry on the Hot 100. Finally, she worked with The Weeknd on a remix of the year’s biggest song, “Blinding Lights.

Rosalía also announced this year that her highly-anticipated third album is on the way, though it seems the coronavirus pandemic has put it on hold indefinitely. According to Rosalía, the unnamed record is a concept album and more hip-hop influenced than her previous music. There may also be a collaboration with Billie Eilish included in the tracklist.

After such a stellar year, we have high hopes for what 2021 will bring for Rosalía. We’re anticipating a fabulous third album and many more successes to follow.
