FLETCHER’s HOT NEW POP
Her Sultry Style + ‘THE S(EX) TAPES’

Our newest fascination in pop music pens steamy lyrics and crafts breakup songs that hit us right where we want them to. She also pushes the limits to shock us with each new release.
Born Cari Elise Fletcher, FLETCHER is a 26-year-old New Jersey native who started seriously studying music at age five. Her career officially got its start in 2011, when she competed on the X-Factor’s premiere season as part of the country-pop girl group Lakoda Rayne. It was eliminated early in the season, and after a few short years of irregular single releases and YouTube collaborations, the group went its separate ways.
After studying music at New York University, spending a year hunting for a recording contract in Nashville, then self-releasing her first EP, Fletcher signed a deal with Capitol Records in 2018.
Fletcher dropped her breakthrough single “Undrunk” in January 2019 and has captivated us with her raw and emotional breakup tracks ever since. “Undrunk” puts into words the pain of feelings and the regret of a drunken hookup. The relatable and messy theme of wine-induced bad behavior and punchy pop rhythm helped the single reach number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it Fletcher’s first charting track.
Since then, Fletcher’s continued to release poignant pop that resonates with her ever-growing following. Most recently, she released her third EP, THE S(EX) TAPES. The seven-track collection dropped in early September and reportedly chronicled the aftermath of Fletcher’s breakup with YouTuber Shannon Beveridge. The songs are a blend of unapologetic electronic anthems like “Bitter (feat. Kito)” and sorrowful ballads like “Feel.” Each is an example of raw and brilliant songwriting with the kind of unpolished lyricism that makes it seem deeply authentic.
Fletcher’s next move is unclear. She was set to open for Nial Horan on his Nice To Meet Ya Tour, but those gigs were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. She’s yet to release a full-length debut album or give us a hint as to when we could expect one, but we’re hoping it’s on the way.
