GIRL IN RED
We Dare You Not to Sing Along

Marie Ulven, or girl in red on stage, is the newest queer icon, TikTok-made star and bedroom pop phenom to fascinate us. Her latest hit “Midnight Love” enchanted us when it was released in April, and we’ve been obsessing ever since.
Ulven is a 21-year-old Norweigan native who quite literally does all of her best work in her bedroom. Her love for music was sparked by her grandfather at a young age, and she taught herself to play piano and guitar, as well as produce tracks from home. She later attended an arts college in Oslo, Norway, to study songwriting and production.
In late 2016, Ulven published her breakout track on SoundCloud. “I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend” amassed thousands of listens on the platform and gave Ulven a dedicated online following. It was later released on subscription streaming platforms as part of her debut EP, and the New York Times named it one of the best songs of 2018.
The following year, Ulven reached the US rock charts for the first time, embarked on an international tour in support of Conan Gray, signed a record deal with the label AWAL, released her second EP and embarked on her own headlining tour. In 2020, she’s released one single that’s also self-aware examination of her dysfunctional tendencies as a lover, and become a TikTok meme.
Ulven’s debut album is on the way. She released “Midnight Love” as the lead single in April, and told Billboard we should expect her record World in Red in October of this year.
As she told NME, ““Coronavirus ain’t gonna stop World In Red, baby!”
