GROOVE WITH GIVEON
Vibe To His Sexy R&B Songs, Drake Collab +

If you’re looking for some groovy, steamy new R&B music to listen to, let us turn you on to Giveon.
Giveon Dezmann Evans is a 26-year-old Californian who got his start self-releasing music in 2018. Inspired by classic jazz and modern R&B artists, Giveon began cultivating his style, which blends both vintage and modern sounds, when he was still a teenager. He continues to cite both Frank Sinatra and Frank Ocean as some of his primary influences.
Giveon’s big break came in 2020 when he collaborated with Drake on the track “Chicago Freestyle.” The song was initially posted to SoundCloud and YouTube but then released on streaming platforms as an official single a few months later when Drake dropped his Dark Lane Demo Tapes.
“Chicago Freestyle” was an instant success on the charts. Die-hard Drake fans pushed the song to number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, then Giveon began attracting fans of his own.
Giveon’s debut EP, released in March 2020, began drawing lots of listeners’ and critics’ attention. Later that year, Giveon released his second EP, When It’s All Said and Done, which drew him even more mainstream attention.
The EP debuted at number 93 on the Billboard 200, and the singles “Stuck on You” and “Like I Want You” shot up on the R&B chart. He followed those successes up with more hot singles including, “Heartbreak Anniversary.”
Giveon’s deep baritone and romantic style continue to dazzle fans of old-school blues and modern R&B alike. In late 2020, the Record Academy announced that Giveon’s debut EP Take Time received a nomination for Best R&B album. He was nominated alongside the prolific and multitalented John Legend, fellow rising star Ant Clemons, and more of the genre’s biggest stars.
We’ll be waiting to see if Giveon takes home a Grammy on March 14. Even if he isn’t chosen as the winner, we’re confident he’s headed for more as both a solo artist and a favorite for featured vocals.
