HAIM ON THE WAY
‘Women in Music Pt. III’ + What’s To Come

After delaying its release due to the coronavirus pandemic, HAIM’s third album Women in Music Pt. III will finally arrive this month.
The sister trio has been producing stunning pop-rock since they released their first EP Forever in February 2012. Their performances caught the attention of several industry stars that year and they’ve since performed alongside Taylor Swift, Florence + the Machine and Mumford & Sons. HAIM’s debut album earned them a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist in 2015.
HAIM began gearing up for its new era nearly a year ago with the release of “Summer Girl” in 2019. It’s among the band’s best songs, navigating with a lighthearted and romantic tone to counteract the heaviness of band member Danielle Haim’s partner’s battle with cancer. Two more singles were also released, long before this March, when the band officially announced the next album.
Before the album drop, HAIM released a whopping six singles from Women in Music Pt. III. All of them, but especially the latest releases of the bunch, have us thrilled to hear what else is on the album. On the day the original album release date was announced, the band dropped “The Steps,” a musical ode to 70s rock with free-spirited lyrics. In April came “I Know Alone,” a more modern and rhythmic electronic track that muses on loneliness and then “Don’t Wanna,” a longing, plucky pop song.
Reviews of Women in Music Pt. III have been overwhelmingly positive so far. Rolling Stone gave the album four out of five stars and declared it the group’s best work yet. NME agreed, giving it five stars and calling it “a thing of great beauty.” We’re anxiously anticipating our own first listen of HAIM’s acclaimed new work.
