From Disney Channel to a synth-pop princess, Hayley Kiyoko has been rocking our world for a decade now. And her newest project is just going to keep that trend going.

An all-elements entertainer, Kiyoko started her career in film and TV starring in movies like Lemonade Mouth (2011) and series like The Fosters and CSI: Cyber. She transferred to the music world around 2007 when she started performing in The Stunners, supporting Justin Bieber on his My World Tour. A few years later, she went solo, and has been stunning us ever since with her mix of dreamy and danceable pop music.

Kiyoko’s full-length debut album Expectations dropped in 2018, and she’s already back with her latest project. I’m Too Sensitive For This Shit will be a project released in increments from now until January 2020. Two singles have dropped so far, and Kiyoko also recently announced a tour to follow later next year.

The second track to be included in the I’m Too Sensitive For This Shit collection, “Demons”, was revealed to us just last week. The single is characteristically Kiyoko in its heavy use of synth sounds and vocal overlays. It’s punchy beat gives it an almost robotic feel, with a playful edge reminiscent of something produced for an action movie soundtrack.

The first peek we got at Kiyoko’s latest work came some months ago, though. In July, she released “I Wish” and an accompanying music video. Lyrically, it’s all about longing, wanting what you can’t have, begrudging the person that won’t give you the attention you deserve. But the melody is enough of a bop that it’ll undoubtedly lift your spirits out of any post-ghosting blues. The accompanying music video, directed by Kiyoko herself, is a flawlessly choreographed scene of spellbinding sassiness in schoolgirl plaid.

It’s unclear when we’ll get our next taste of Kiyoko’s magic, but PROVOKR can’t wait for that day.
