If you are not one of those music nerds obsessed with what was once known as liner notes, you might think you don’t know Jack Antonoff, but trust me, you know his work, and anywhere you listen today, there he is. He has produced and co-written tracks for Lorde, Carly Rae Jepsen, Sara Bareilles, Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, The Chicks, and St. Vincent. He is also 1/3 of the band Fun. and the man behind the group, Bleachers.
Antonoff is one of those rare talents who looks both backward and forward, paying homage to his heroes while simultaneously guaranteeing that poppy yet sophisticated music has a bright future. To see what we mean, look no further than the forthcoming Bleachers LP, Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night. At first glance, the album cover could be mistaken for an unreleased Bruce Springsteen opus circa The River or The Wild, the Innocent & E Street Shuffle.
