Hottest DJs in the world
12 music makers who rule the boards and our hearts

Is there anything sexier than a swift-fingered DJ at the top of a giant stage, controlling thousands of writhing bodies with every flick of the switch, knob, or drop of the needle? We don’t think so, either. But many of PROVOKR’s picks for hottest mixers aren’t just “disc jockeys.” These talented musicians create their own electronic and techo sounds, deftly combining original tracks with borrowed samples of familiar melodies, and often collaborating with huge singers like Rihanna, Rita Ora, Madonna, and Gwen Stefani. Here are the twelve we’re loving right now, who are not only music to our ears, but candy for our eyes.
Avicii (Tim Bergling) is about as cute a Swedish button. The 27-year-old DJ, remixer, and record producer is releasing new music—finally—this week, with his EP AVICI. If it’s even close to his debut, True, featuring our favorite single of 2013, “Wake Me Up,” we’re in for a rocking good time.
Diplo controls a crowd like no other. The American DJ made his mark working with M.I.A. and recently collabed with Madonna and Britney Spears. His newest release, the Bollywood single, “PHURRR” with Hindi musician/singer Pritam is vying for a late “Song of the Summer” slot.
French DJ and techo artist Gesaffelstein, aka Mike Lévy, has his fabulous fingerprints on every hot musician’s tracks these days. He’s worked Lana Del Rey, Tyga, ASAP Rocky, and produced two tracks on Kanye West‘s Yeezus.
The beautiful, rhythm master, Nicole Moudaber, is a Lebanese-Nigerian DJ and producer. She started her own label, MOOD Records, and her festival stage concept, MoodZONE, is an orgasmic event that definitely takes us there. We nominate her Techno Queen.
The Amsterdam-based duo of Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano let their Surianmese roots rule their music: dance, techno, and drum beats that shake and rattle audiences into a bouncing frenzy!
Sam Ronson, British DJ and sister to mega-producer/musician Mark Ronson, fell into the job by chance, spinning records for fun at her favorite local club. We hear the former lover of Lindsay Lohan is breaking into acting and is rumored to be appearing in the new season of The L Word.
French DJ, songwriter, producer, and remixer Dave Guetta is the most famous DJ on earth. He’s sold over nine million records and his single “When Love Takes Over” with Kelly Rowland was named the #1 dance-pop collaboration of all time!
You know Ruby Rose for her acting in Orange is the New Black, but who knew the gorgeous, sexually fluid actor was just as skilled behind the board, bringing her frenzied fans to the orgasmic edge? Seriously, can Ruby do everything? We’re…curious.
Calvin Harris was famous long before he dated Taylor Swift. The Scottish DJ straddles both dance and pop music beautifully. His current hit, Feels ft. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, and Big Sean is on constant rotation at the clubs and on the radio.
Paris Hilton is better known for being a socialite, reality TV star, and media personality, but the heir to Hilton Hotels kills it behind the turntables at private events in luxurious locales like Ibiza, Cannes, and Las Vegas.
If Riz MC looks familiar, you’re probably one of the millions of viewers addicted to HBOs harrowing series, The Night Of. But the handsome British actor, Riz Ahmed, is a talented rapper, DJ, and member of the Swet Shop Boys.
Alison Wonderland, aka Alex Sholler, is an Aussie DJ who reaches the masses with her spiritual mixes of jazz, pop, and techno. The crowd-pleasing performer will be touring this fall in North America. Don’t miss her!
