Indie rock in a hard place
Courtney Barnett teams up with Kurt Vile

Singer/songwriters Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile‘s new single may be called “Over Everything,” but the sweet, swaying single just whets our appetites for more music from these independent artists! We don’t have to wait for long, as the duo’s new LP, Lotta Sea Lice on Matador Records drops in October. They will be touring this fall and if this playful music video, directed by Danny Cohen is any indication, we’re in for a real treat.
Shot in black & white against landscapes both majestic and modest–think Ansel Adams meets Walker Evans photography and you get the picture–the look-alike non-couple lip-sync each other’s vocals and well, it’s adorable. The song reminds us that anti-folk group The Moldy Peaches (remember their lovable single “Anyone Else But You” from the Juno soundtrack?), with a giant wall of guitar sound coming from Vile & Barnett’s ever-present Fenders and portable amps.
