She’s the woman who wants to release a billion songs. Literally.

Kim Petras is a German-born singer/songwriter on a mission to become a popstar by releasing one bop after another –– and that’s exactly what she’s been up to.

Petras first came into the limelight for undergoing gender reassignment surgery at a young age. She’s spoken candidly about issues facing trans individuals since she was 16, when she helped produce a documentary film and TV series. Her music career further catapulted her to fame soon after.

After several years of making music alongside producers who worked with artists like Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber and more, Petras officially released her first single in 2017. “I Don’t Want It All” is a sassy number with a catchy melody. Its innovative sound and viral success paved the way for her first album, Era 1, and her latest foray of singles released every several days.

Petras has cited OG pop princess such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, the Spice Girls and more as her musical inspirations. Her music is reminiscent of peak 1990s and early 2000s pop with a modern twist. Her weekly single releases have fed an appetite for new and original pop music continuous.

Petras’ latest work is high energy and danceable, but at times also incredible vulnerable. “Sweet Spot” is an undeniably 80s pop-inspired tune with a sexy undertone, while “All I Do Is Cry” is a smooth blend of melancholy guitar and a techno beat. She’s versatile in rhythm, tune and lyrics, speaking to love, happiness and sorrow. As an international figure making a bigger name for herself with the release of each deliciously catchy single, Petras is undeniably one of the next big voices in pop.
