Lily Allen’s Trigger Bang
British Singer Reflects on the Party Life

“That’s why I can’t hang with the cool gang. Everyone’s a trigger bang.”—Lily Allen
The release of the new single “Trigger Bang” also marks the release of Lily Allen’s fourth studio album No Shame, as the British singer/songwriter reflects on growing up in the public eye and her battles with substance abuse.
Directed by Myles Whittingham, the music video for “Trigger Bang” features actors playing younger versions of Allen and English rapper Giggs going through their early rise to stardom to an unmanageable addiction to alcohol and cocaine. The pair had their fair share of the party life, as the music video ends with the two of them meeting up for a chilled out cup of coffee.
It’s the perfect way to end this video because the song itself is chill and smooth with a catchy piano hook and delightful melody over abrasive lyrics like, “Anything went, I was famous/I would wake up next to strangers/Everyone knows what cocaine does/Numbing the pain when the shame comes.”
The video also features a few Easter eggs for fans of Lily Allen. There are some visual references to her past music videos, namely “LDN” and “22.”
“No Shame” will drop sometime this summer, as Lily Allen gears up for a short U.K. tour in March—her first in three years.
