MILEY CYRUS STRIPPED DOWN
Her New MTV Unplugged Session

Miley Cyrus is returning to the MTV Unplugged stage with a brand new set of covers, fan favorites, and original material.
Last week, MTV announced that Cyrus would be performing from her Los Angeles home on Friday, October 16. Cyrus previously put on an Unplugged show in 2014 after the release of her provocative pop album Bangerz. Now, she has another album on the way and seems eager to show the world what’s to come.
Some information has been circulating about what Cyrus will be playing during Unplugged. Here’s a breakdown of what we know so far and what we’re hoping for:
WHAT WE KNOW
A little information has come to light since MTV announced the show’s details. We hear Cyrus will play a stripped-down version of her newest steamy single “Midnight Sky.” The Stevie Nicks-inspired track is a blend of pop and rock and will get a contemporary vibe as part of the acoustic set.
We also know she will be playing the Britney Spears hit “Gimme More,” which Cyrus is sure to put her unique sexy spin on. Word has it that she’ll also play some Pearl Jam tracks, along with a selection from The Cardigan’s catalog. Last but not least, Cyrus will perform some delicate renditions of her own greatest hits.
WHAT WE WANT
Hannah Montana Reimagined
We know Cyrus has been trying to shed her Hannah Montana identity since leaving the show in 2011. But many of the songs are still loved by her fans, and we’d love to see Cyrus perform grown-up versions of classics like “Rock Star” or “This Is the Life.“
Some Early Cyrus Favorites
Cyrus came out of her musical shell with the release of her first solo projects. We’d love to hear a new acoustic take on early 2000s favorites like “Can’t Be Tamed” or “7 Things.”
A Classic Rock Cover
Last year, Cyrus rocked the house at Glastonbury Music Festival with covers of Led Zeppelin and Metallica’s classic rock tracks. She hints that a heavy rock-influence will permeate her next album. We’d love to hear an old-school favorite from groups like The Rolling Stones or Van Halen.
A New Album Sneak Peak
So far, Cyrus has only released one new single from She Is Miley Cyrus. “Midnight Sky” dropped in early August, and we haven’t heard much about new music since. Cyrus has yet to announce a release date or provide a tracklist. We’d love a sneak peek of a new single or more information about what’s on the way.
MTV Presents “Miley Cyrus Backyard Sessions” will air on MTV at 7 p.m. ET on October 16.
