PROVOKR is starting 2021 off the right way — by finding the best upcoming artists to recommend to you. We’ve put together a list of rising stars from across all genres that we think will dominate this year.

Here are 11 emerging artists to watch in 2021:

Indie rocker girl in red broke onto the scene and stole our hearts in 2020. But we think 2021 will be the year she takes over. Though it hasn’t been announced, we’re expecting her debut album sometime this year.

24kGoldn is the next major hip-hop artist. His breakthrough single “Mood (feat. iann dior)” dominated the charts in 2020, and we’re expecting more tracks and (potentially) a sophomore album in 2021.

Fans of Rico Nasty, City Girls, and other badass female hip-hop artists need Flo Milli in their lives. If you spend any time online, you probably already know “Beef FloMix.” But Flo Milli also has a 12-track album, more than 5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and a chance to be the next prominent female rapper.

R&B rising star Fousheé went viral in 2020 when her single “Deep End” became popular on TikTok. Her latest single, “single af,” is a groovy track with serious potential to be her next hit. We’ll be watching her moves this year.

Jany Green delivers the good vibes we’ve been hoping to hear. The Alaskan native’s blend of R&B, pop, indie rock, and soul makes us smile. Just give his 2020 single “Little” a listen, and you’ll understand what we mean.

Joesef

Joesef

If you’re in the mood for some sad boy indie tracks, we recommend giving Joesef a listen. The 24-year-old proudly writes, records, and produces his music, and he’s quickly becoming a star at home in the United Kingdom and beyond.

KennyHoopla makes our former emo kid hearts soar. His music blends new trends with early 2000s pop-punk elements to create both refreshing and nostalgic songs. Even blink-182 drummer Travis Barker is a fan and collaborated with Kenny on his 2020 single “ESTELLA.”

Bakar

Bakar

Indie rocker and London native Bakar released his debut EP in 2019, but its lead single “Hell N Back” really took off in 2020. Bakar’s collaborations with BENEE, Dominic Fike, and other international artists have also made him one to watch in coming years.

Tobi lou was born in Nigeria, grew up in Chicago dreaming of being a professional athlete, and is now an up-and-coming rapper. He released single after single in 2020, each of them groovier than the last. We’re hoping that means his sophomore album is coming in 2021.

BLACKSTARKIDS

BLACKSTARKIDS

This trio hasn’t had that one breakthrough single yet, but we’re confident it’s headed for big things. BLACKSTARKIDS brings together pop, indie, and hip-hop to create stunning, dreamy tracks that make us feel like we’re living in a movie. Enjoy the ridiculous amount of music the band has released in the last year, and thank us later.

Chloe Moriondo

We end our list of rising stars with ukulele superstar Chloe Moriondo. The 18-year-old got her start on YouTube, went viral on TikTok with her cover of “La Vie En Rose,” and is now on her way to becoming an indie queen like Clairo or Soccer Mommy
