ON HOLD WITH THE KILLERS
‘Imploding the Mirage’ + Their Best Singles

The Killers are just the latest band to postpone an album release in 2020. Most were due to the coronavirus pandemic — the American group’s delay was apparently caused by some last minute production delays. Nevertheless, we were hotly anticipating the release of Imploding the Mirage, originally scheduled for May 29th.
Although we don’t know when the Killers will release their new record, so for now, we’re breaking down the best singles from each of their albums so far.
CAUTION
We’ll kick off our list with the lead single from Imploding the Mirage. The Killers released “Caution” in March. The track features a guitar solo from the former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. The music video serves as a sneak peak of a short film created by Sing Lee that coincides with the album.
THE MAN
The Killers rolled out this track with plenty of fanfare prior to the release of their 2017 album Wonderful, Wonderful. The electronic track with vintage soul received a mix of positive and negative feedback –– a testament to its simultaneous celebration and mockery of manliness. Billboard picked “The Man” as one of the best rock tracks of the year.
MISS ATOMIC BOMB
This Killers’ single has the same young and reckless tone as some of the band’s most beloved hits. It was released in 2012 as the second single from the group’s fourth album, Battle Born. “Miss Atomic Bomb” saw success on the Billboard rock and alternative charts and was praised as one of the best songs of the year by numerous media outlets.
HUMAN
“Are we human / or are we dancers?” may be among the most iconic Killers lyrics. “Human” was released as the lead single to the Killers’ third album Day & Age. The track’s existential yet hopeful tone resonated with critics and fans alike. It was Rolling Stone’s readers’ choice for best song of 2008 and peaked at number 32 on the Billboard Hot 100.
READ MY MIND
We couldn’t leave out frontman Brandon Flowers’ own favorite from our list. “Read My Mind” has been performed and covered by many groups, but nothing compares to the Killers’ original. It reached number 62 on the Billboard Hot 100 after it was released in 2007. The track was the third single from the group’s sophomore album Sam’s Town.
MR. BRIGHTSIDE
Can you believe one of the most iconic hits of the 2000’s was the Killers’ first single? The incomparable “Mr. Brightside” continues to be a favorite to scream in from atop a table in a bar, in a car or at a house party almost 17 years after its release as the lead single to the group’s studio debut Hot Fuss.
