Paramore has been a staple of modern rock music since it took the world by storm with its 2007 album Riot! Since then, the group has changed members and evolved its sound, but it remains one of our favorite bands.

That’s why we (and many others) were thrilled to learn that Paramore may have a new album in the works. After Laughter, the group’s last release dropped in 2017, and shortly after, the band announced it would be going on hiatus. According to frontwoman Hayley Williams, that break might be over.

Williams has had a prolific start to her solo career during her time away from the band. Her debut album Petals for Armor dropped in 2020, and her second, Flowers for Vases / Descansos, came out in February 2021. Many were skeptical the group would ever reunite. But shortly after the release of Flowers for Vases, Williams tweeted that she’s “ready for the next Paramore album.”

To gear up for new Paramore music, we put together a list of some of the band’s best songs so far. Here are our six favorite Paramore songs:

Misery Business

We kick off the list with a Paramore classic. This song from Riot! is still the band’s most listened-to music to date (according to Spotify). Williams has said in recent years that she regrets some of the more derogatory lyrics in “Misery Business.” But if you were an emo kid in the early 2000s, this song will take you back to better days.

Ain’t It Fun

Ain’t It Fun” was Paramore’s biggest single from its 2013 self-titled album and is still a fan favorite today. The best way to cope with adult life struggles is to blast this ironic track and sing along, right?

Still Into You

Early Paramore had two moods: love songs and breakup songs. This one is the former. Williams shows off her stellar vocals, and the rest of the band rocks as hard as ever in “Still Into You.”

The Only Exception

This single shows a more tender side of Paramore.  Released in 2009, it was a promotional single for the band’s (arguably best) album Brand New Eyes. The song is a sweet ode to the kind of person who makes living and loving fun.

That’s What You Get

That’s What You Get” is another Riot! single that has stuck with us all these years. It is the opposite of “The Only Exception,” and rejects love and all the pain that comes with it. This song is lyrically sorrowful, but its melody rocks hard enough to help you bounce back from any breakup.

Decode

We couldn’t fail to include this track from the Twilight soundtrack on our list. The film is still a guilty pleasure for plenty of us, and the angsty energy of “Decode” is the perfect fit in the movie’s surprisingly stellar soundtrack.
