RADIOHEAD’S THOM YORKE

Then + Now - Ranking Best Work

The Smile, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke side-project (with Jonny Greenwood and drummer Tom Skinner), made their debut performance on the Glastonbury Fest’s Livestream. This presentation opened with a wolf-headed man leisurely riding a bicycle down a moon-lit country road. If there had been a roof (they played under a parachute), it would have been blown off.

When not working with Radiohead, Thom has always been busy. Solo albums, playing and touring with the supergroup Atoms for Peace (which consists of Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker of Beck and R.E.M., and Mauro Refosco).

After watching the spectacularly sprawling set, we thought we would revisit all of Thom’s solo and side-project work.

Yorke with Radiohead will go down in history for making music history. From their early three-guitar days to the present, they have always pushed sonically into new frontiers. T.K. does the same on his own.
