Rihanna’s latest video for “Sledgehammer”—a song written by Sia for the upcoming Star Trek Beyond movie—is the first to be shot entirely in high-resolution IMAX. “The lyrics of the song and this new Star Trek are all about breaking through the boundaries,” said the video’s director Floria Sigismondi, who created an otherworldly environment for the shoot (which took place in the California desert). Rihanna added her creative input by suggesting the sort of tribal markings you see on her face. “We created these amazing ancient tattoos,” said Sigismondi. “It gives you a sense of mystery and back story. Getting rid of her eyebrows did that too because we’re really drawn into her eyes.”
