The Queen Is Back
Christine and The Queens dazzles ahead of new album

Much like her music, the French artist known as Christine and the Queens defies any possible box you try to put her in. Born in Nantes as Héloïse Letissier, the performer studied theatre at ENS Lyon before veering off to start her career as a musician and visual performer.
Six years after her debut EP Miséricorde, Letissier is set to release her newest album Chris on September 21st. The name of the album being a possible indication of yet another name change for the French musician who only recently celebrated her 30th birthday in June.
Whatever she decides to call herself, there’s no denying that Christine and the Queens has talent. Previously picked as our Best New Artist of the year in 2016, the evocative singer has a knack for making us want to get up and dance.
A mix between the passion of such acts as Future Islands and the heart-pumping energy of fellow Frenchmen Daft Punk, Chris’s music brings new life into an industry that at times feels stuck in a rut. Ahead of her album release, Christine and the Queens has released two singles “Girlfriend” and “Doesn’t Matter”, with the former featuring American musician Dâm-Funk.
As if her genre and gender bending capabilities were not enough, Christine and the Queens also fluctuates between English and her native French in her music, releasing French versions of her songs “Girlfriend (Damn, dis-moi)” and “Doesn’t Matter (voleur de soleil).” Regardless of which language you prefer, we can’t recommend giving her a listen higher.
