After a tumultuous 2018 and a quiet 2019, Demi Lovato has triumphantly returned to the spotlight in 2020 with three new singles and her first acting role in several years.

Lovato’s storied start on the Disney Channel has evolved into a career as a famous face with talent and resilience. Over the past decade, she’s soared from starring roles in Camp Rock and the series Sonny with a Chance to a successful six-album career in music. From her earliest breakout singles, her powerhouse vocals have set her apart from the pack. We’ve been falling in love with her voice, raw honesty and fighting spirit ever since.

After years of open struggles with addiction, eating disorders and mental health challenges, Lovato retreated from the public in 2018. That year, an overdose rocked the world of pop music and sparked an outpouring of love from stars and fans alike.

She received a similar show of support when she finally stepped back into the limelight to give her first performance, in over a year, at the 2020 Grammy Awards. Her never-before-heard song “Anyone,” a heartfelt and emotional ballad, was one of the most impactful moments of the night.

In February, Lovato sang the national anthem at Super Bowl LIV, one of the most-watched events every year. Then in March, she released her next single, a celebration of self-love titled “I Love Me” and sparking talk of a seventh studio album. Although we don’t have an album  title or release date yet, we foresee an announcement in the months ahead.

Lovato’s latest release came this month alongside the phenomenal Sam Smith. The track’s deep and dramatic techo-pop backdrop and uplifting gospel choir chorus create the kind of sound that belongs on workout playlists and in television ads for the Summer Olympics (pre-cancellation, of course). It’s inspiring and both Smith and Lovato’s impressive voices further elevate the good feelings we get from listening.
