Australian Singer's Incredibly Deep Move

Australian singer/songwriter Vance Joy is making waves in the United States with the upcoming release of his sophomore album Nation of Two later this month. The latest single, “We’re Going Home,” marks a very bold and incredibly deep song for the 27-year-old’s music career.

“I love the new video for ‘We’re Going Home,’ which was directed by Mimi Cave, I gave her a couple of ideas and that started the process,” Vance Joy told PROVOKR.

The accompanied music video feels very ethereal or heavenly with scenes of everyday joys intercut with a group of interpretive dancers in wild open spaces in nature. It’s reminiscent of Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life with its staging and atmosphere with Vance Joy’s lyrics behind it, We’re going home/If we make it or we don’t, we won’t be alone/When I see your light shine, I know I’m home/If you’re waiting all your life, you won’t ever go.”

Vance Joy wrote “We’re Going Home” while on tour with Taylor Swift for her 1989 World Tour in 2014. He was Tay-Tay’s opening act, as he admits, “It was scary opening up for Taylor Swift and I wrote this song out of all that.”

Nation of Two drops on February 23, while he’ll later perform during the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which takes place in Indio, California on April 13-15 and April 20-22.
