WEEZER IS NON-STOP
Two New Albums Coming in 2021

The prolific and iconic indie band Weezer is back and more productive than ever in 2021.
The group announced in late 2019 that its next album, titled Van Weezer, was on the way. Its release was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will now drop this spring.
But the band did make more music during the lockdown. In mid-January, the group announced that another album would precede Van Weezer. The record OK Human is set to drop at the end of the month.
Here’s everything we know about both albums:

OK HUMAN
As we said, the release of OK Human was officially announced just days ago. But Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo has been teasing it for nearly two years. Cuomo first chatted about it in an interview in February 2019. At the time, he called it “piano based” and “very eccentric.” The title is a play on the Radiohead album OK Computer.
After more delays and hints at its release date, the band officially announced that OK Human was coming and released the first single, “All My Favorite Songs.” The track is a quintessential Weezer track –– a pop/soft rock blend –– with a little bit of orchestral flair. Its video shows an adventure and friendship developed through the computer, which seems on-point considering the album’s name.
OK Human will be released on January 29, 2021.
VAN WEEZER
It seems that Weezer’s second album of 2021 will contrast the first sharply. According to Cuomo, Van Weezer has a hard rock influence instead of the electro pop style the band has been associated with lately. The album is also dedicated to late guitar legend Eddie Van Halen, so a heavier rock sound seems appropriate.
So far, three singles from Van Weezer are out. The first, “The End of the Game,” is undoubtedly more rock-influenced than much of Weezer’s recent releases. It’s more like the band’s earlier works from the late ‘90s and early 2000s. Next is “Hero,” another guitar-heavy rock track. And then “Blue Dream,” which debuted in an episode of The Simpsons when Weezer guest-starred. The songs have the same vibe and offer a sampling of the cohesive rock style we can expect from the album.
Van Weezer will drop on May 7, 2021.
