Alex Prager
Strange, beautiful perspectives at FOAM, Amsterdam

Alex Prager is a bold and magnificent American photographer from Los Angeles. She uses staged actors taking authentic cues form film, fashion photography, pulp fiction and her hometown LA. Prager produces Technicolor photographs with somewhat dark, somewhat off, and unsettling images. Just a little, we feel a sense that something is wrong. She is so very subtle and strong at the same moment in her work. The exhibit, Silver Lake Drive, is her second solo Exhibition at Foam in Amsterdam.
Alex Prager commented, “I find my inspiration in the city of Los Angeles. It’s a strange picture of perfection – but there is an eerie monotony that creeps in. It can slowly drive a person crazy, that sense of unease under the surface of all this beauty and promise.” That’s good because we love her sense of exploring an unseen underside and tension to Hollywood. We love the crazy, eerie and unexpected photography of self taught Alex Prager.
