If Andy Warhol had lived in the age of Instagram, he would have been the king of social media. Even back in the day, he spent most of his life documenting the events he attended and the people he hung out with by capturing them with his beloved Polaroid camera. From the late 1950s until his death in 1987, Warhol took hundreds of Polaroids of his famous friends, chronicling intimate moments with some of the legendary stars of his day. In collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation, the art book publisher Taschen collected Warhol’s instant photos—many of which had never been seen before—into Andy Warhol Polaroids 1958–1987. Here are some of PROVOKR’s favorites from the collection.
