Dissolve

Fred Cray’s new series of unique Dissolve prints are incredibly sensuous. He is transforming photographic imagery through manipulation leaving the viewer with a sense of suspended time and place as a soft dream like world emerges from each piece.

Cray’s fantastic creations begin with a process by printing the image on a surface that repels ink. As a result the image has a lifespan of minutes before they dissolve into something quite different. Cray intervenes at the optimum moment to capture an image before it is unusable or unrecognizable. Finally the images go through a rigorous editing yielding surprising combinations. The result is that we enter Cray’s constructed dreams and we are glad we did. Dream on Fred Cray.
