Amsterdam’s Foam museum (aka the Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam) prides itself on showcasing a broad and provocative range of modern photography, including the work of the greats (like Helmut Newton) as well as emerging talent. Sascha shot by @carlijnjacobs – her intens and powerful look really gets me, while I was shooting and while I’m looking at it now. This image seems to be kind of provoking I noticed, I have got a lot of reactions because of her armpit hair. Thank god the model is not a shamed and I like her for that. I think you can see a lot of Newton influences in this image > hair, nudity, sex and provoking. But still. Why is this provoking, it is only hair? The Blue it, 2014 is one of my favorite images I have ever made. This is Boychild, s/he is bending the rules of gender. His/Her face is covered all in glitters, which make him/her almost inhuman and enlarges the unknownness of his/her gender. Congratulations to Turkish photo journalist Akin Celiktas, winner of the Pride Photo Award 2016, who made this image during the banned Istanbul Pride in June. Maartje Knaap, een filmstudent die in meerdere tijdelijke woningen in de Kolenkitbuurt heeft gewoond is Museumdirecteur voor één dag. Iedere keer als ze verhuisde en het pand werd gesloopt, werden er onmiddellijk beveiligingscamera’s geplaatst op de plaats waar ze gewoond had. De werken die ze uitgekozen heeft uit de collectie van Foam passen bij dit thema: het vreemde gevoel dat je kijkt en tegelijkertijd bekeken wordt. Sad to say it’s the final day of the Francesca Woodman exhibition at Foam. We’re concluding with the image we started with 2,5 months ago.
